About us

Welcome to Rain City Games!

An independent specialty game store in the hearts of Vancouver and New Westminster

Human connection, one game at a time

In a world controlled by screens and algorithms, we want to create a space where people can step away and interact face-to-face.

From finding the perfect new release for game night to hosting tournaments and other events, we help people create memorable offline fun, at home and in-store.

How we started

2017 - Rain City Games begins in downtown Vancouver, BC. Our 1,600 square foot store features all the nerd stuff you’d expect, with a modest playspace that could seat up to 20 (very cozy) people.

2019 - We open our second location in New Westminster, BC. The small 950 square foot store still has a wide range of offerings, particularly for kids and families.

2021 - We expand our flagship store to a whopping-for-downtown-Vancouver 2,200 square feet, doubling our playspace capacity to a comfortable 40 and adding something even more exciting: storage.

Today - You’ll find us with open doors and full event calendars throughout the year. Drop by and say hello!

Core values

Community - Service - Expertise

  • We strive to be a third space, in a time when third spaces are increasingly hard to find.
  • We support clubs, organizations, and charities throughout the Greater Vancouver area that benefit children, as well as those experiencing extreme poverty and mental health issues in and around the Downtown Eastside.
  • We support up-and-coming game designers in the Vancouver area and beyond.
  • We use our deep industry knowledge to help you find your next favourite game.

Founders

Rain City Games is owned by Channing Guenther and Andrea Robertson. Both grew up playing tabletop games with their families, a passion that continues to this day.

Channing and Andrea are involved in the tabletop game industry, with a particular focus on sharing their knowledge and experience through peer-to-peer education initiatives.

They are the lead organizers for the 2026 and 2027 editions of Vancouver’s Terminal City Tabletop Convention (TCTC).
