Sagrada: A Stained Glass Masterpiece Game

Draft dice and use the tools-of-the-trade to carefully construct your stained glass window masterpiece in Sagrada! Here's how this intricate and competitive game works in detail:

Each player builds their own stained glass window by carefully placing dice onto a player board (their window). The boards are a grid with specific restrictions that determine where dice can or cannot be placed, ensuring a puzzle-like challenge for all players.

• Each player board has some placement restrictions based on the color and shade (value) of the dice.
• Dice of the same color or the same value cannot be placed adjacent to one another (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally).

Players draft dice to fill their windows. Drafting is done in player order, starting with the first player and rotating each round. The dice drafting mechanism is strategic and varies depending on player turn:

• The first player starts drafting a die from the pool.
• The draft follows a snake order format, meaning after the last player drafts two dice, the draft order reverses.

Your score depends on a mix of public and private objectives:

• Public Objectives: These vary per game and encourage players to achieve specific patterns, placements, or combinations within their stained glass grid.
• Hidden Goal: Each player has a secret scoring objective with a hidden goal color. Bonus points are awarded for collecting dice of this color, with preference for darker (higher-value) shades.

You’re not entirely constrained by the rules. During gameplay, players can use tools-of-the-trade to manipulate the rules:

• Tools: Special abilities allow placement flexibility — such as moving dice or overcoming restrictions. Tools cost Skill Tokens to use.
• Escalating Cost: The first player to use a tool spends a minimal number of tokens; subsequent uses by other players make the tool more expensive!

Once all dice have been placed and scoring has been completed, the player with the highest point total is crowned the greatest stained glass artisan!
